An individual who laced candy with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two young males aged nine and ten years old.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and one adult became sick at the location in mid-summer.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.

However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a young boy.

Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.

'Candy game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.

The man engaged in a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She explained Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.

The legal representative continued: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, for good reason.

"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were located, and his stepson notified the police about his worries.

She explained Ruben proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"The police had not gone out by that stage," she added.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the situation.

The legal representative stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities once more.

She explained Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
